Don’t Ever Buy an E-Book

Published by bktoday under Uncategorized Edit This

I ran across this jewel the other day that makes the following claims:

“Guaranteed to work even if you’re “un-motivated”…
In fact, it’s best if you only put in an hour or so per day!”

“So I put together a checklist of what I DON’T WANT in a job.”

I don’t want a boss to tell me what to do.

I don’t want to be on anyone else’s time clock.

I don’t want to wake up to an annoying alarm clock.

I don’t want to commute anymore and sit for hours in traffic.

I don’t want to spend more time away from home.

I don’t want to worry about expenses.

I don’t want something that requires training.

I don’t want to waste my life away working for someone else.

I don’t want to be told what to do.

I don’t want to be told how many days I can go on vacation.

I don’t want to spend time away from my family.

As you can see, my list of “Don’t Wants” was quite long.. Then I put together my checklist of what I DID WANT in a job.

I want to work from home or anywhere else I choose.

I want to have a job that will give me all the free time I want.

I want to spend more time with my family.

I want an income that will give my family more than we need.

I want to travel whenever I want.

I want to do something that I enjoy.

I want to be able to make as much money as a doctor.

I want something that will be easy to do.

I want to only work a few hours a day.

I want to be able to make money whether I’m actually working or not, automated income.

I want (and need) to start making money right now.

 ok, bk here

So this asshat figures out the secret to the universe and now has all the money in the world, the hottest wife evah, cars, planes, boats and works a few hours a week.  The best part is he is going to share the secret with us lazy, unmotivated retards so that we can “make bank” like him.       …right!

Now we have all seen these garbage claims about making 100k+ plus monthly in your spare time on the internet. The interesting thing is the fact that YOU CAN make that kind of money on the internet and there are thousands of people that do it. I have met a few of them recently. Most of them stay way below the radar and don’t have big sites like Shoemoney or Chow and they absolutely work their asses off. They work on their own terms (which is nice) but they work very hard.  Most of the e-books you see or the stories you read about where peeps are raking  huge $$$ are from affiliate sales. What are affiliate sales? This is where a person can join an affiliate network and sell offers(goods/leads) that are available on the networks, it can be anything from health care products to TV’s. You can also sell straight traffic which converts into leads (CPA). The majority of these affiliates generate their traffic via PPC advertising. As most of you know those are the paid ad’s that show up when you do a Google search or the keyword targeted ads on web pages (Those are called content network ads).

The object of PPC (pay per click) is very very simple, sell more than the ad cost. It is just a matter of ROI…return on investment. Most PPC campaigns are failures just as most MFA sites are failures. Let me give you a quick example…ACAI was a real hot item recently and many peeps were making big $$$. Right now to buy the keywords ACAI BERRY it would cost you around 2.50 per click, most networks are paying around 30.00 per converted sale. The math is simple, I have to convert 8.33% of my click throughs to break even. An 8.33% break even conversion ratio is something a noob should stay away from.  Anyway, then there is G’s quality score which will determine whether you pay a premium or discount for your keywords. G takes into account the quality of Landing page, CTR,  bounce rate….all kinds of shit. That’s one reason it can be hard for a noob to compete in PPC initially because you are going to pay more for keywords than experienced affiliates. Why? They have an established adwords account AND they know WTF they are doing.

The Concept of affiliate marketing sounds easy, but it’s not, I can assure you of that. Again, most campaigns fail and most that try affiliate marketing fail as well. There are quite a few variables that an affiliate marketer has to juggle to get and stay profitable on a campaign, some of those are:

Keyword Optimization (for impressions & CTR)

Display Ad Optimization (for CTR)

Landing Page Optimization (for Convert)

 Competition

Network/Advertiser scrubbing and scraping rate (ie theft)

Quality Score

Ad ranking/bidding

EPC - Earnings per click- It  ALL Boils down to EPC

Split testing

All of this information is tracked simultaneously (There are several tracking tools) and you optimize your campaigns until they turn a profit. This is where the skill and experience of the affiliate will make the difference. It has taken me a damn long time to get to the point of this post but the SECRET SAUCE in making the money with affiliate marketing is CAMPAIGN OPTIMIZATION..Period!! You don’t need an e-book to teach you this because an e-book can’t. It is something you have to personally partake in, it is not static, it is a dynamic process with a myriad of moving parts with millions of potential outcomes that only the human brain is powerful enough to process the information and make the tweaks necessary to get profit. You can’t learn to ski by reading a book or watching a video, you have to actually get on ski’s and dump a few times until your brain processes the millions of inputs and gets you skiing.

Are there tips and tricks (secrets)?  You bet your ass there is and NOBODY is going to share it with you if it is a money maker. There are situations where an experienced affiliate may help you out with a few pointers. If he/she has a vested interest in your success or you may have something to offer in return. For instance, you will see code writers hooking up with photoshop experts and going as a team. There are several skill sets that come into play with affiliate marketing and rarely does one person possess them all.  You will also find affiliates networking and helping each other just like you see SEO’s networking and helping each other in the serps. When I say affiliates, I don’t mean some noob asking for niches and secrets, buying e-books, stalking forums all day. From what I have witnessed so far nobody in the affiliate world gives a shit about you until you get in there and start buying traffic and let those dicks know you mean business.  People are a lot more eager to help those that help themselves!

As you can tell I have spent some time learning a little about the PPC side of things. I still have quite a lot to learn but I will be taking a stab at PPC after I get my first money SEO site launched.  I am going to launch my first campaign with about 5k and see how it goes. I don’t expect it to be profitable but I do know I will learn enough to get profitable eventually. If and when I get profitable I will scale the shit out of it and make some real money. I am really looking forward to it because building this network for my money site is fcking boring. I know I need to build adsense sites and SEO for the long term but I am going to have to find a way to automate or subcontract some of the mundane work. That means I have to build a system for simple execution that any retard can learn, well just add that to my list.

btw. I will let everyone know how my first PPC campaign goes when I get started, win or lose.
