Final Update: Noob Crime Scene
After watching this PSEO technique over the last week are so I have come to the conclusion that in the long run it is not worth it. I was able to get a quick ranking in a few days and make a little bit of money then I took the whole thing down. I was playing with fire and could have been banned. It was all spam anyway. I will tell you the technique, and I will also tell you don’t mess with it unless you are an advanced black hat. I’m serious leave it alone!
At first I thought this technique had just started to be used a few weeks ago but I have since found some banned pages from last year. Apparently they work for 2 to 3 weeks and they get banned, but they have hundreds of these pages in the works. I also believe it is all automated. 5-7k backlinks in a few weeks on hundreds of pages makes me think this. What they do is run some sort of script that fills out profile pages on Web 2.0 sites. These profile pages have links that link to their money sites. They then run a comment spammer, guestbook spammer and generate thousands of backlinks (to the profile page), the majority of the links are anchored. Many of the sites they spam have been spammed relentlessly for months and years with the same keywords.
Why does it work? It is very surprising to me that G is allowing it to work, my guess is that shutting this down presents G with some kind of a dilemma. What they(spammers) are doing (like a parasite) is taking advantage of a few things G likes by stealing from it from its host (large Web 2.0 sites). G likes web 2.0 sites and their subpages, The web 2.0 subpages will garner the “trust” from the Web 2.0 homepage PR. They also are taking advantage of domain age. So there you have it: Trust, Age, Thousands of backlinks and a Web 2.0 property. They also avoid G’s “new site” filters aka. Sandbox. Whats not to like G!!!
Why should we stay away from it? This is just an opinion, but I think when G decides what to do it won’t be a slap, it will be more like …..a tear your ass off and shove it down your throat kind of thing.
What can we learn from this? The biggest thing I take from this is the power of trust & age. We all know that anchored backlinks are important but apparently trust and age makes those backlinks more potent. I could make a great wine analogy but I’m too lazy. At the same time we also know that you could have a site from the Bible days domained by the Vatican but without backlinks its invisible. For instance, if you built brand new a static sales page/website and dropped 5000 shitty backlinks in two weeks I don’t think you would get close to page one for anything competitive. (Thats assuming you got indexed and avoided sandbox). I will certainly be considering purchasing used, aged domains in the future. I need to do some research first on how/if that trust/PR/age transfers to the new owner. I don’t know but will find out.
It can really make your head spin thinking about what G thinks. And it especially rocks my cranium when I wonder what G thinks I’m thinking about G. side note: When I traded the SP 500 full time I would sometimes get trapped in these logic horror loops, the only way out is a shot of tequila chased by many beers followed by another shot chased with a Viagra and an Oxy. In fact, I think I will put that formula on my agenda for this evening ![]()
One last thing, we might be able to use these Web 2.0 profile pages to our advantage without getting hurt by G. I will show you a link to one I recently set up, its a make money online profile. I am going to test a lot of different setups and will let you know how it goes. I know most of you already have several of these set up, but what if you do hundreds maybe thousands interlinked pushing juice to farms that are pushing juice to authority sites that are pushing juice to your money site. And thats only 10% of your juice!! You should have juice from Do Follows, Article Marketing, Friends, Link Networks, Guestbooks, Some purchased links in your niche, spread em around babeeeeeeeeee! (terrible Dick Vitale impression).
One more thing, I hopped a link from Griz post today and I’m damn glad I did. The site is called SEO Zombie and it has some great information. I have spent almost all of my MMO time learning off page SEO. I don’t know a damn thing about on page SEO. I think this site is going to help me a lot. The site is also very organized and damn informative.
Your, I’m going to get Noobulized Tonight Blogger
UPDATE:
The Profile Page I made for this post got banned(See link above). I have many of these pages and the rest of them are fine ,for now anyway. Almost all of them are older than the one above that got banned. I can’t say for sure, but publicly disclosing a spam link is probably not a good idea. Huh, ya think!
I’m a clueless Noob
